I decided to visit 360 automotive, as I had a nagging issue on my vehicle that I suspected was a starter issue. It was not something that happened 100% of the time. The issue happened maybe 1 in 20 starts. This made it incredibly difficult to diagnose as most mechanics require consistent failure before they agree on a cause. This was the case with the dealer. They advised nothing they could do and even tried to blame the driver to excuse it away. They refused to even look at it because it wasn't a consistent problem. I have intermediate knowledge of cars so I was pretty sure the cause. They said it didn't matter, they wouldn't replace the starter or even look at it unless they could see the failure. I then called another reputable small auto shop but over the phone they said unless it has failed, they would not be able to replace the starter. They also had a long wait. I gave 360 a shot. Called them and they said come on in the next day! Very accommodating!
They did exactly what I had hoped and what someone working on their own car would do. They took the time to try to reproduce the failure. They also didn't treat me like I didn't know what I was talking about. They took what I said into account, and used it to help diagnose. Sure enough, got it to happen maybe 1 out of the 20 or 30 starts. Once they identified, they could determine the likely cause and remedy. They provided a quote and completed the work quickly. Replacing the starter on this particular model is no small feat. For me, it would have taken me days to complete. These guys did it in just a few hours. I was impressed even with them being professionals that's still a big deal to me.
They did great work and the issue has NEVER returned. They were the only ones willing to actually take the time to try to find the problem. They showed me what I value in a mechanic/shop:
A restless nature to find the issue not matter what it takes (time etc.)
Listening and believing the owner and taking that information to help with the diagnosis/troubleshooting steps.
Performing the work with care and skill.
