Finally got to try A Ma Chicken right next to the Redmond Town Center. This is easily one of my go-to spot in the future, the atmosphere is incredible. Clean, spacious, well decorated with Asian cultured items. The AC temperature was very comfortable on a hot summer day also
Let’s talk about the food, I had the combo chicken rice (the fried chicken was very tasty and tender, not dry nor heavy coated with batter) and it was incredibly delicious.
I also had the KUY TEAV PHNOM PENH, but beware that it has pork liver and heart in it, if you are not a fan, ask to opt out on those proteins instead. The broth for every dish was VERYYYY umami, kids friendly establishments was a bonus.
The staff are very attentive and friendly, this place speaks to my home country and my culture. I’ll def recommend this to everyone around
Food: 4 Price: 2 Service: 2 Ambiance: 3
There was so much hype and I knew they sold out sometimes, so I had a really high expectation. However, it was only half full at 11:30 am on a weekday. You can scan the QR code on the table to order, and we ordered the classic chicken rice and the crispy chicken rice.
The food came 5 min after we placed the order. Each meal set comes with marinated veggies, soup, two kinds of sauce, and the main dish. Both of them come with 6 or so chicken slices, roughly 200g of chicken, give or take. The portion is definitely small as other yelpers have pointed out.
While both of them are delicious and the rice tastes like authentic hainanese chicken rice, it wasn't as good as what I've had in Hong Kong years ago. To be fair, it is still the best that I've had in the states though. The soup tastes like those free soup from lunch box places in Taiwan. My husband had two sips and said it's mid. I enjoyed the marinated veggies, they are nice and crunchy. One of the sauces is a chicken sauce that you can get from grocery stores, and the other one is probably some sort of sauce with garlic. The sauce was nice for your cucumber slices since they have absolutely no taste.
The crispy chicken is better imo since it's like an interesting twist to the traditional hainanese chicken rice (just not so healthy lol). Overall I enjoyed the meal, but I hope they have a pay online option as well. Given that Redmond is not super close to us, I doubt we will be back again to try other dishes. Each set is $16.5 pre tax, which is quite high considering the portion size is small.
This is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. But the real star of the show? The Hainanese chicken, which is perfectly tender, juicy, and pairs flawlessly with their fragrant rice. The accompanying ginger and chili sauces pack a flavorful punch that takes every bite to the next level.
And let’s not forget the soup—rich, comforting and just what you need after a long day. It’s clear that every dish is made with care and the balance of flavors is spot on. The portions are generous too, making it worth every penny. Whether you’re a Hainanese chicken aficionado or a newcomer, this place will have you coming back for more! This is a cold dish and the broth is luke warm.
