Not a good experience. :( Long Story...Jerry (their estimator) came out to look over my project of 28ft of walkway and three steps. He was very likable and I could tell he knew his stuff and he suggested a few things better than I had planned including concrete curbing along side of steps...He called and left me a message “Hey Luke, the price will be $$$$ for everything we talked about.” Well...it did take me three full months to call them back but I said let’s do it...he decided to come back out with the file he had on my bid and do a detailed look at what the plan was and he said... “well the curbing wasn’t in my bid.” Well...I said we had talked about it and he was the one that came up with the idea. He then said it would take two separate pours so he suggested decorative rock... I agreed to that but for same price he quoted before. More helpful info: I had done sod and when I did that I decided to put in pressure treated wood as forms for our our walk way....so that part was already done for them. But they came out put up forms for steps and put rebar in walkway and stairs and poured concrete over three separate days/times and on last day did the decorative rock. (I had suggested they use the rock I had on my property to match a flower bed nearby)...The guy took 15 min to “throw” the rock into place... I wish I got a before pic of what he did but I took all the decorative rock out and redid it myself to my liking. When I got the bill (via email) it said As per bid: It was $400 more than originally bid plus tax. I wrote a two page letter explaining my side of story and my frustration and suggested they start giving people a written out detailed bid before work is started. I only sent the amount I had agreed on and said I wanted to pay less but I was an honest and stand up man and I knew they would have to pay tax out of that. ( $2250 total paid. ) Always get a detailed bid in writing. Wish I had a better recommendation.
