The Spaniard/Hispanic woman that works at the Andie on Fourth Street in Berkeley is extremely rude and unprofessional and I'm very inclined to believe that she has an issue with black people. I work at a nearby business and a lovely black woman came into shop and told me that she worked there. I told her I would check it out since they are new to the area and I hadn't visited the store yet. We chatted a little longer and I complimented her smile she ended up recommending a teeth whitening product that she liked then she left to go to work. A couple days later I went into Andi and asked another woman if she was there and explained that she gave me a product recommendation and I couldn't remember the name. The present employee told me she wasn't at work that day and that "she would reach out to her and get the product name for me and that she would come by and let me know". I told her that it was ok and I would come back on my lunch to see if she heard from her coworker. When I returned, she said the woman hadn't gotten back to her so I wished her a good day and went back to work. Today, I returned (week later )and saw a Spanish woman. I asked her if the woman I was looking for was there and explained why I wanted to speak with her and the Spanish woman replied "she doesn't work her and can you stop coming" I said excuse me I only came one other time to get the name of the product and she replied " I know the whole story I was here when you came". " She doesn't work here because she was a big problem in the company and we don't have her contact ". (I never asked for her contact or even her name) I told her if the first woman had told me that she no longer worked there, I wouldn't have returned today. But not to worry I WILL NEVER RETURN or recommend their business since they think this is an appropriate way to speak to people. I'm sure she's not rude like that to white patrons.

Just had the rudest customer service experience with the worker at Andie’s Swim in Berkeley on Fourth St. I went with my manager to the store as she was looking for the only dark-skinned sales lady from Andie’s who came into our store a few days ago, as my manager wanted to ask her what teeth whitening products she used. The sales lady who greeted us told us she didn’t work there anymore because she caused “major problems within the company” and was fired. This raised a red flag in my mind because she seemed to be overly dramatic. How can one single sales associate cause catastrophic problems within a ginormous company? She rudely told us to stop coming into the store, even though my manager only came in ONCE before looking for her. Her tone was very dismissive and rude. If my manager was a white woman instead of a black woman, she would have never come at her like that. The worker was a fair-skinned women with dark hair and a Spanish accent. Also my manager never would’ve come again if the woman who was working last time told her the woman she was looking for got fired. And then the sales lady had the audacity to say she was there that day and overheard the conversation, but didn’t bother to intervene and tell my manager she got fired. My manager nicely explained this to her and she continued to deflect and be dismissive and tell us to not come back. We proceeded to leave, but were both shocked and angry. As someone who works in customer service, you don’t tell people rudely to stop coming to your store. On top of that, the store was empty so we weren’t disturbing any customers or preventing any customers from being helped. As a WOC I did not feel welcome in Andie’s Swim and highly recommend NOT supporting this business.
