My under-18-year-old son recently received a speeding citation in Camarillo on the 101. In his haste to return home from a two-day school outing, he made the mistake of following the fast-moving ‘flow of traffic.’ Unfortunately, he was the one pulled over and faced the consequences. He called me from the scene, and although he handled everything correctly, he still received the speeding violation. When he handed me the ticket at home, I couldn’t help but think about the timing—estimating the cost of the ticket, potential driving school expenses, and increased insurance rates. Later that evening, during a phone conversation with a friend, I learned about Andrew Roberts, Esq. My friend praised him as a fantastic attorney experienced in representing cases like ours. He mentioned a program specifically for first-time youth traffic offenders—one that Mr. Roberts could explain further. This program, known as Start Smart, is limited to certain counties, including Ventura County. It allows eligible individuals to attend a law enforcement class instead of a traditional traffic school. If the judge accepts their completion certificate, the case is dismissed as if it never happened. Andy (as I eventually learned to call him) emphasized our fortune in having this infraction occur within Ventura County, as it’s not available in L.A. or Santa Barbara Counties. For a reasonable fee, my son engaged Andy’s services. Andy represented us in court, requested permission to use the Start Smart program, and guided us through the necessary steps. We enrolled in the law enforcement class, which lasted only a couple of hours and obtained a signed completion certificate from the CHP (California Highway Patrol). At Juvenile Court in Oxnard, we presented the certificate to the bailiff, who confirmed its completeness. The judge then dismissed the case—we were good to go. It felt almost unbelievable. Andy reminded us that this program offers a fresh start for my son as if he never received the ticket. If he ever faces another infraction (which we hope he won’t!), he can choose the driving school option instead of paying a fine. Personally, I’m also hoping this means no increase in our auto insurance rates—a significant relief. Beyond the outcome, I’m grateful to have met Mr. Roberts. He patiently listened, explained everything thoroughly, and maintained excellent communication via phone, text, and email. His familiarity with traffic matters and reputation with court officers proved invaluable in our case. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone dealing with a traffic ticket to contact Andrew Roberts. His top-notch representation comes at an affordable price.
