It has been a great experience working with Angie on the renovation of our rather dilapidated old Victorian house in Alameda.
The house started it's life in 1877 as a high basement Italianate cottage and had gone through a number of rather poor renovations through the years and was pretty run down by the time my wife and I purchased it.
Undeterred, we talked with a number of architects about the renovation and quickly identified Angie as easy to work with and very aligned with our tastes and aspirations for the house.
Angie did a wonderful job in removing the bad renovations and helped us restore the house to a lovely victorian in Alameda's Gold Coast. This included recommending local contractors to work with, dealing with the city for permits and planning permission and helping us through the difficult times we had during the construction.
Earlier this year we were awarded the Alameda Architecture Preservation Societies (AAPS) Award for the renovation. This award was only possible because of Angie's vision and dedication to our project!
Angie Klein did a fabulous job on our condo renovation in Alameda. She helped us with kitchen and bathroom design, lighting, and construction of a "window" in one wall to open up the kitchen to the Bay view. She's both an architect and an interior designer, so she was instrumental in finding the furnishings (and some terrific local artwork) we needed to make our condo into a beautiful home. Much of this was done long distance, as we were in the Chicago area while the work proceeded in California.
In addition to her talent as an architect and her excellent design sense, Angie is a pleasure to work with. She is low-key, easy going and collaborated well with regard to our taste and budgetary concerns. She chose a really good contractor who did the job in the time frame allotted. And she was completely trustworthy as our point person for all kinds of long-distance decisions. We could breathe easy knowing Angie was on the case. We highly recommend her!
