Arlis's is a nice cafe for a reasonable price. The staff was friendly and courteous. The waitress brought our food out in a timely manner and made sure everything was going well. We ordered crab cake eggs Benedict and an order of biscuits and gravy with sausage and eggs. Plus, one Belgian waffle.
The crab cakes are delicious 😋. I highly recommend them. They melt in your mouth with flavors saturated about. The crispy top combined nicely with the sauce that soaked nicely into the perfectly toasted English muffin.
The biscuits and gravy were not what they could have been. There was no flavor to the gravy, and it had very little sausage. Do yourself a favor and pass on the cold, heavy biscuits covered in flavorless tepid gravy.
The waffle was ok, made from Krusteaz, I assume the lack of flavor was not worth $11, maybe $4. The slight teaspoon of butter and the 1/8 cup of syrup is almost enough to make a flavor. Hard miss.
Try some specialty foods. They get that right and very well done.
