PUBLIC SAFETY WARNING! I apologize in advance for the lengthy review. We are neighbors next door to an Arrived vacation rental house in Mosier, OR (just a few miles East of Hood River). The Arrived management team placed TomCat rodent bait around the outside of the rental house, specifically in the easement area between our property and the one they manage. There is no antidote for the active ingredient in TomCat rodent bait and it is not intended for outside use (the bait box clearly instructs “for indoor use only”). Our dog was attracted to the bait and chewed through the package, getting poisoned. She was rushed to the vet, and the poison control center provided services as well. Besides the welfare of our pet, there is concern about guests bringing their pet or children and exposing them to risk as well as it being an environmentally unfriendly rodent control method.
Arrived’s response in order of email string: 1. “Dog was trespassing”; 2. “There was no poison placed”; 3. There were poison bait stations placed but they are gone now; 4. “Impossible for a dog to chew through the package”; 5. Email stating “too bad, not our problem”. There has been no call back despite daily messages for the owner Jen Lucha to discuss getting reimbursement for the vet bill or promising to no longer place poison in our easement area.
