I was using Verizon as my cell carrier when I was told in the store I could trade in an iphone and get $400 off. I said several times I did not want a contract. I was told I didn't need a contract. I did the trade in and bought the phone. When I decided to go with another provider, a year later, I was told I would have to pay the $400 back because we had an agreement, which Verizon said was not a contract. Verizon also charged me a month and a half service charge after I canceled. After months of going through the Better Business Bureau, I received the month and a half service Verizon over charged me but not the $400. So I went to the Attorney General to have this documented and soon after Verizon paid me the $400.

They pretend that they are helping but they are not. Any time if there is a consumer protection issue - they simply forward your complaint to the business. Now if business response is totally illogical or useless - they don't even look into the response and simply want to close the issue "stating that we cannot act as a private attorney". So they are good for nothing. They should ideally be replaced by a IT system which converts online email to print/online complaint and send to the business as mentioned in the address. I have no idea why state of Washington is wasting money to hire any human beings for the consumer complaints department. They could save a lot of $$$ by having a simple IT system to do this work. I will say to consumers - don't waste your time and money with them.

Should have called before heading to the AG's office so please make an appointment. Absolutely my bad!! They have a reception which is excellently operated and even though I was unable to see someone the young man was outstanding even after my weeping which I am sure only made him feel bad. I am sorry but thank you for being so kind. People! If you are going to Seattle for anything parking is hideous but the building the AG is in has parking which was safe. Also remember you are downtown and stay aware of your surroundings.
