The team at B&D Auto have my trust. I’ve lived in this area over 30 years and have always enjoyed taking my vehicles to an auto shop I could trust. That trust changed 2 years ago when I took my vehicle to my usual auto shop in Vista on Santa Fe. I had brought my vehicle in to check out my A/C system. I was given an estimate of $2,800. I denied the service and was handed a bill for $528 to tell me I had a leak in the system. Doug and the team at B&D found the issue, did some work and bypassed the issue. The total was $483. I totally trust B&D Auto and I’m so happy to have a place to take vehicles that I completely trust. Thanks B&D
Edit in response to their reply: Glad I doubled checked the pressure before starting removal of the compressor. Freon was not removed from the system as they stated. In fact it is overpressure on the low pressure side, and the high side is still under pressure as well. So just one more thing that I need to have fixed before I can diagnose the system, so glad I paid $100 just for me to have to do more work. Original post below.
Called and was told they could get me in the next day. Dropped the truck off at 730 I'm the morning and was told "we won't be able to get around to it until late afternoon." I said ok I'll bring it back in a couple of hours then, I have some errands I need to run. "Well if you leave then we won't be able to get to you today." Makes absolutely zero sense that I would just have to leave the truck there when they know they aren't going to work on it, but fine, I need the AC, alignment, and balance done so I leave it. Get a call at 330, "we can't do the balance because our balancer isn't big enough, we tried to do the AC but there is something not right in the system and we don't know enough about diesel trucks to do it, you should go to B&C, would you like us to do the alignment?" I said no, I'll just come get the truck so I can actually get something done today. They then charged me $100 for the AC service, which did nothing for the truck, still blows hot, and all the Freon that they pumped into the system will just have to be removed before any actual AC work can be done. So, no regard for their customers time, them charged for something that they couldn't fix (which an AC system runs independently of the engine just using the belt to drive the compressor so diesel or gas doesn't make any difference) Absolutely horrible experience.
