If I could give these guys a 0 star I would. I got talked into joining the wellness plan. It was one of the very first things that was pitched to me upon our first apt.
It’s NOT worth it & difficult to cancel and you STILL are required to pay even after cancellation for a period of time without being able to utilize any of the benefits.
Reception is SO rude and pretentious. They talk to you like you’re dumb for asking basic questions. My dog is a rescue with a very traumatic past who does not trust strangers & reception often referred to her as “a problem child” whenever we came in. (This is my first dog & first vet experience btw) I always felt judged and not very welcome.
My dog got really sick about two months ago & I made an appointment to get her checked out. She was having extreme bowl/GI tract issues, vomiting, lethargy, and not sleeping.
They prescribed her royal canine loaf for sensitive tummy. It made her condition way worse. Regardless they recommended that I continue feeding her the same food & make another apt.
We came back in, they prescribed her a course of antibiotics & let me know that it should solve the problem. she was good for a minute and then fell ill again.
Unfortunately I did end up needing to take her into a hospital. A few thousand dollars later & a series of tests and we have an IBD diagnoses & a protein allergy.
While Banfield is not responsible for my dog falling ill, I do feel that they never asked detailed questions about any of her symptoms & were very quick to prescribe special food/antibiotics and usher me out the door. I never felt seen or heard. I wasn’t recommended to get any testing done, no blood work, no X-rays, ultrasounds anything!
One vet told me to literally just monitor my dog and if she continues to vomit she is probably fine for a few days, which did not sit right with me.
If you have any questions and request a call back from a vet, it’s honestly rare that they call you back.
There are a few kind/professional veterinarian's that work here, but the rest talk to you like you’re five years old and are dismissive. Very much ushering you out the door with a prescription as opposed to listening to and addressing your concerns.
I feel personally as having been a wellness plan member for the last year, that the team lacks sympathy as well as attentiveness. I’m not sure if everyone is just over worked or this is just how vets in the city are. I did not feel that my pet was cared about personally, and I was almost always met with a condescending tone.
I don’t usually write reviews unless I feel very strongly about something and I wanted to write this to warn new pet owners like me, or pet owners with a rescue, or possibly pet owners with dogs who are currently having undiagnosed health issues.
If you’re looking for a vet that REALLY cares about your pets health and wellness and cares to make YOU feel seen and heard as a pet parent as well
Please PLEASE
don’t go to Banfield…… :(
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Banfield Pet Hospital has been a reliable choice for my daughter Rose's pet care needs. With the monthly plan covering all preventative care, including shots and spaying, at $77 a month, it ensures a proactive approach to pet parenting. The staff's genuine interest in Rose, encouraging us to stop by and say hi, reflects a commendable investment in her well-being.
The friendly and helpful staff never pressurizes sales, emphasizing the importance of the monthly plan without pushing additional products. This approach sets them apart, making the experience more about pet care than upselling. While I haven't experienced the spay day upselling, the overall lack of guilt for missing appointments showcases their understanding and flexibility.
Despite being part of a chain, Banfield Pet Hospital has proven to be a trustworthy choice in the Capitol Hill and First Hill area. I initially hesitated due to chain status, but their exceptional service and care for Rose have alleviated those concerns. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a reliable vet.
