We recently stayed at this Best Western location while visiting family. During our stay, the outside temperature was over 100°F. Unfortunately, inside the building, the air conditioning was ineffective; it was uncomfortably hot and muggy throughout. The rooms were equally uncomfortable despite setting the AC to cool; it only started working properly at night after several hours of warm air blowing. This meant continuously adjusting the AC and our baby's clothing, which was stressful in extreme weather.
On the first night, after finally getting our baby to sleep, my husband, who was at the pool, spent about two hours trying to enter our room with our key, which seemed to have battery issues. He didn't want to wake us, so he kept trying until finally speaking to the manager that night. The next day, after a long, hot day out, we returned hoping for a cool room to put our baby to bed. However, our key once again did not work. Despite suggesting it might be the battery, we were given a new key, which also failed to open the door after multiple attempts and 30 minutes of waiting. The hallway was sweltering due to malfunctioning AC units, and our tired, overheated baby was becoming increasingly distressed.
My husband requested the manager, and after more than an hour, they finally attempted to change the batteries, but only after several trips and failed attempts to find the right tools. By then, our baby was beyond exhausted, hungry, and overheated, disrupting our plans with family for the evening and throwing off his schedule entirely.
When we raised these issues with management and Best Western customer service, they offered a mere 10% discount on our bill. This compensation felt inadequate, given our long-standing loyalty to Best Western. As a result, we'll be seeking alternative accommodations in the future.
