Boyle MacDonald wines are a hidden gem! Highly recommend them. Kate, winemaker/owner, does fabulous work crafting her wines. If you're in Murphys, you have to visit BM and taste their great wines!

Across the street from Murphy's Hotel, and quaintly tucked upstairs, Boyle MacDonald Wines is a little slice of Heaven. We first started buying wines from them when they were Ariel Vineyards, a little detour off the highway approaching Murphys. Fell in love with the Sangiovese (both red and white!) and have continued that love affair to this day. Craig is warm and a wonderful host and Kate is an amazing winemaker. Take the time to sit back on their rooftop patio and savor a tasting, enjoy friends or make new ones. This is the place to do it!

The historic downtown of Murphys with over two-dozen tasting rooms is only two hours away from Oakland, But to experience the Boyle MacDonald tasting room, I would travel double the time! In addition to the amazing wines by the winemaker Kate (and if you are lucky, you might meet Kate in the tasting room) I love the decor, the ambience , the ability to enjoy roof top (the only space like this in Murphys) and the joy and community Craig offers. Music on Fridays is incredible. When going to Murphys, an afternoon at the Boyrle MacDonald tasting room is a MUST for us...as it is to leave with their wine to enjoy when back in Oakland!
