I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Brendan Pierce ENT at PAMF. After struggling with chronic sinus-related symptoms for over a year — including decreased smell, persistent nasal congestion, facial pressure/pain, numbness around my eyes and ear, inflammation around my eyes, and vision disturbances — I visited my primary care physician. My primary care doctor performed a thorough exam, reviewed my imaging (MRI and CT scans), inspected my nose with scope. During this examination, she observed significant inflammation in my nasal passages and noted that my imaging clearly indicated sinusitis with notable mucosal thickening. Based on these findings and the persistence of my symptoms despite multiple courses of antibiotics (three rounds within the past year), she referred me to an ENT specialist for further evaluation and management.
However, my appointment with Dr. Pierce was both dismissive and demeaning. Despite my MRI and CT reports, which clearly state that I have sinus blockage and sinusitis, Dr. Pierce claimed that he "did not see any signs of sinusitis" in my imaging. Instead of providing a thorough evaluation or addressing my concerns of my sinus-related issues that both my primary care physician and radiology reports confirmed, he suggested that my symptoms were likely due to migraines but when I corrected him and said I do not get migraines he then attributed my symptoms to "hormones" — something outside his area of expertise.
It was baffling and frustrating to receive such an off-hand, irrelevant diagnosis from a specialist who should have focused on my sinus issues. Not only did Dr. Pierce fail to address the findings in my imaging or offer any meaningful treatment plan, but his entire demeanor was dismissive and patronizing. His dismissal of the clearly documented findings of inflammation and sinus blockage from my imaging, as well as the inflammation noted by my primary care physician, was baffling and demonstrated a lack of competence in his chosen field. His demeaning attitude made me feel unheard and belittled. His approach was a complete waste of time and money, and I left the appointment in tears without any constructive treatment plan or solutions. As I walked out his response was to say that I seemed upset.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this provider if you are seeking a thorough, competent ENT specialist. Dr. Pierce’s unwillingness to consider the clear evidence of sinusitis and his focus on unrelated diagnoses demonstrated a lack of expertise and professionalism. My experience here was one of the worst I've ever had with a healthcare provider.
The worst care I have ever received. I have done a complete review of what this ENT did to me at Dignity Health. He was responsible for removing 1 polyp. I was hospitalized at Stanford for 3 days. He never took responsibility for his malpractice. When I informed him his reaction was: “Wow, Sorry” thats it! I did not go back for a post operation visit. I simply don’t trust him. I did a complete video of how I was dealt with and shared my medical records and communication with Mr. Pierce. You can YouTube it. Do not trust your medical needs to this doctor. At least watch the video.
