My Mom has lived at Brookdale park place now for over a year. I can only say positive things about the Staff and the residence. All the staff have been amazing, Management staff: Sandy, Karen, Sandy and Gary at the front desk, The nursing staff, Todd, and Anne and everyone else that works with my mom have been fantastic. Brookdale does so many activities with the residents, from adventure bus Mondays, Dances once a month, games, trivia, bingo, cards, uno, Exercise class, Skype with friends and so much more. Some reviews talk about disorganization I walked in to visit my mom randomly and there was some smoke coming from the kitchen area. The staff were on the radios, very organized , the fire alarm was buzzing they proceeded to evacuate the residents to the lawn area. The kitchen staff then brought out snacks and water for all the residents, and the nurses brought out blankets. I stood next to Sandy and let her know how impressed with how smooth everything went, and I was glad I witnessed this. it was not an emergency the fire department arrived with in minutes of the alarm going off. In an actual emergency I feel confident that my mom would be in good hands.

I visited 6 other residential facilities including 2 other Brookdales in town. Brookdale Park place is by far the best because of these factors:

1) Staff - my mom is in assisted living due to some short term memory issues. The staff really care about her, I have seen them interact many times, and these are not put on for a show, these are real people who care.

2) the property is very large and beautiful, my mom likes to walk and its a 12 acre property. The dishman trails are right behind the property. a great place to take your family member for a hike.

3) they have 3 levels of care on the same property, independent living, assisted living and Alzheimer care. This makes the transition from one area to another easier on your family member.

In closing Brookdale has been a blessing, I don't have to worry about my mom being by herself, she LOVES the people both staff and other residents. In her own words "this has been such a good move for me, life couldn't be any better" After a year of my mom living there I can highly recommend Brookdale.

What can I say positive about park place? Well there are a few flaws that I have to look past. I've had family here before and it was by far the WORST place they have ever had the misfortune to live in. I had witnessed the embarrassment of a director who is Pat talk down to and treat not only residents but her own employees with utter disrespect. Pat on multiple occasions has completely ignored the residents needs even if they were as simple as asking for a glass of water. Pat had never once shown any type of compassion towards any residents and was rude and childish when I would ask her anything. On top of an incompetent executive director the rest of the managers unfortunately followed in her lead. The so called executive chef Eric H. was a completely rude and entirely incompetent of creating even the simplest of meals. I had tired to talk to Pat about the several times I witnessed Eric flirting with residents family members and co workers alike but nothing ever got taken care of. Eric was always rude to the family's at dinner and from the food he served I assume he doesn't know how to read a recipe or know anything about cooking. There were several other incompetent people that work at this place like Chris Atkinson who never seemed to listen to any suggestions or questions that I would ask about what my grandma liked and disliked. A server called Julia always came across as rude and had a snobby attitude towards us and the other residents. My poor grandma had spoken with me on several occasions about the disrespect she got and how when asking the kitchen staff for something they just shrugged her off. This is the absolute worst place to have a loved one live and the reason is for incompetent managers like Pat who's bottom line isn't the residents but for herself. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone ever and the people that I've talked too agree with me.

Staff are friendly and pleasant. Kind to the residents. We enjoyed a lovely holiday dinner with my brother who lives at Brookdale. Excellent food.
