My interaction with Brother’s Cleaners is usually the norm. I show up, drop off my close and pick them up a few days later. On Friday, 11/11/13, unfortunately, this was not the case. I came in the afternoon to pick up my close. I came to the counter, opened my cell phone case/wallet as he went to get the close, took out my debit card, paid, picked up my cloths, the lady behind me in line drops off her close on the same counter I used and I leave. Driving home I notice that I don’t have my cell phone with me. I make a u-turn and return to the dry cleaners. I walk in the door and ask the gentleman with a beard if he had seen my cell phone. The first thing he says is that I never had my cell phone, that he never saw the phone and that I must have left it at home as he has never seen it. I told him that I use the case to pay. He says no one has used that counter since I left so it can’t be there. I informed him that the lady behind me in line used the same counter to drop off cloths. He continued to repeat that he has no idea what happened to it. I ask if I can use the phone to see if I hear. A solid 3 seconds go by before he says yes. I use it to call and we don’t hear it in my car or in the shop. I give him back the phone and I go walk about the parking lot a bit before leaving for home where I searched the car without luck. At home I went to locate my phone via various services and it showed the phone is off. The next day I came back and the gentleman with the beard was very rude again and gave me a grimace before I say anything. I ask him if anyone turned anything in or if it was found when the sorted the laundry last night. He, very rudely, says that I’m trying to pin it on him, etc. Mind you I lost my cell phone with hundreds of family photos, money, 2 atm cards, a credit card, etc. A normal response would have been a simple no.
I cannot say what happened to my phone, but I can say they were not only not helpful, abrasive and a bit odd. When all you do is deny before I say anything, it seems suspect. I hope the phone and cards turn up and it would have been nice I they were a little more helpful. The phone was lost between there counter and my car which was parked in front of the store. If anyone could have helped it would have been them.
