This Canadian Tire is like most: tons of staff, but it's almost impossible to get help with something. That's the expected part. No big deal.
The one star review is for the middle aged woman who usually works the customer service desk. Her attitude has been poor every single time I've had the displeasure of interacting with her.
My latest interaction with her has led me to make the decision to take my business elsewhere.
I came into the store with an empty propane tank to exchange for a full one. No where on my way in did it say that I was meant to leave the propane tank outside (for safety reasons, supposedly, which makes absolutely no sense), but I was rudely informed of this fact by this woman upon entry. Scowls and stern words for an honest mistake: not following a store policy that makes little common sense and was not made known to me by any signage.
To top it all off, when I returned after shopping to collect my full tank, lo and behold the tank I was told to leave outside was missing and they wouldn't give me a new one. Then they made me wait there while they checked the security footage, meanwhile trunchbull denied ever having told me to leave it there.
Classy. I won't be returning. I seriously expect so little from an underpaid retail employee that I'm honestly impressed that she was able to surprise me with just how bad at customer service someone can be.
I'm not angry at anyone for enforcing the rules, but the bare minimum for human decency is to treat people with respect and courtesy, and to give them the benefit of the doubt. For someone whose career is supposedly in customer service, I really don't have the words to describe how this person is utterly unsuited to the job they show up to do every day.
I spend a lot of money at that store, and now I won't be.
