Clark, Capo Construction, completed an energy audit of my home. He advised me of what I needed to do to make my home more energy efficient but what really impressed me was that he also told me what work wouldn't result in any energy improvement or savings even though it was something I thought I needed to have done.
Clark recommended attic insulation and sealing the can lights throughout the house for the most efficiency and dollar savings. I thought I needed to replace my windows but Clark checked for leakage and recommended against it. He pointed out that even though I have aluminum windows they were double paned, insulated and well sealed so it would not improve my energy efficiency enough to make it worthwhile. He also said it wasn't necessary to seal my duct work since it was all in inside space and that my fireplaces had excellent dampers so no work needed to be done there either.
Clark also checked my gas equipment and venting for any issues. He thoroughly explained all the tests and what the results should be and found no problems with my 35 year old furnace.
Clark's crew worked quickly and did an excellent job. I was also really pleased that they used fire retardant recycled insulation. There was no mess as they worked and absolutely no mess when they left. After completing the work they ran a second blower door test which showed me how significant the reduction in air leakage was vs the initial test. Since the work was done I can definitely tell the difference - especially in one of the bedrooms that was always cold no matter how much heat we used.
I would definitely recommend this company. I was impressed with Clark and his crew for their professionalism, work ethic and honesty.
