I started working with Carrie in 2010 as a brand new drummer. Fourteen years later, I am drumming for an incredible jazz ensemble, playing all over the Bay Area. Carrie is a fantastic, creative drummer and an even better instructor. Her ability to transcribe the great jazz drummers for me, including most recently Philly Joe Jones, has helped me really improve my skill set. She has an incredible ear and has taught me that listening is the best skill any drummer can have. On top of all that, Carrie is an amazing person. She is kind and positive, and has encouraged me to develop my own set of skills and my own sound. Whether you are a working professional drummer or just beginning your musical journey, I strongly recommend you do whatever you can to become one of her students.
