This is not your traditional mattress store. I expected to go in, buy my $2,000 mattress and get it delivered same day or next day with free set up and removal (eg Mattress Firm or Mancini) of my old bed. What I got was completely different. I had to work hard for this mattress.
1) If you are buying the mattress and don't have a large suv like me or a friend with one or a truck, they can ship your mattress via UPS. You will receive it in 5 - 7 days...possibly. See Yelp review. The buyer waited for a mattress that never showed up. Luckily, the delivery was scheduled for Saturday.
2) If you want removal of your old mattress they will supposedly give you a link to 800-Got-Junk for you to schedule a pick up of your old mattress. So, I guess schedule the pick up after the delivery of your new mattress so you have something to sleep on in the meantime. Also, make sure you have space to keep the old mattress until you are able to schedule a pick up. And you should probably budget for time off work to be available or schedule for a weekend.
3) The store does not carry extra parts.
My story, after deliberating for about 3 weeks, I finally decided to buy the bed. I went to Casper on Jan. 20 to purchase the bed fully expecting the experience would be like every other purchase I had. You pay. Then, they ask you when you would like it delivered and happily remind you that they offer free removal of your old bed. Basically, I thought I would buy the bed and sit back and relax. Instead, I pulled my suv around back. My fiancé and the sales associate loaded the boxes into the car after I folded down the seats, removed the trunk cover. Wait...there's still not enough room. Moved the driver seat up as close to the steering wheel as possible, remove the head rest. Moved the passenger seat as close to the glove compartment as possible, remove the head rest. Slowly close the trunk. Don't want to break the rear window. Drive home not being able to see out of the back. Get home. Unload. I am shocked by the weight of the vacuum packed king sized mattress on my body. I thought I was strong...just not that strong. But I can't let my fiancé know. It's a girl power thing. I get the mattress in the house. My legs are burning and I'm feeling lightheaded. Shake it off. I need to help bring in the frame and foundation. Done.
Not done. Now, we need to take the old mattress to Leo's Recycling. They are the only recycling plant in SJ that is part of the states free mattress recycling program. Look up "Bye Bye Mattress." We tie the kid stained, king sized mattress to the roof, put the box springs in the trunk. It won't close. We tie close to closed with a rope. Next, we tackle interstate 280. The mattress starts to lift up from the top of the car. Did I mention my fiancé is following me in his car? He couldn't ride in my car. We pull over to tie the mattress down again. This time, we put part of the strap inside the car thinking that shutting the car door on it will keep it from lifting up. It didn't. I hold onto the strap while driving 40 mph on interstate 280. My hand is cramping. Luckily, it's only for 1.5 mile until I can exit. I hold on for another 2 miles until we get to the recycling facility. The whole time I'm thinking of the Allstate "mayhem like me commercial." Made it! Register for the recycling. Learn you can only drop of two mattress including box spring per year. I finishing with a harrowing experience backing my suv inside the warehouse. Who knew there were tractors that big.
Note done. Get home to set up the bed. After all this, parts were missing from the bed frame. I'm starting to lose it. I pack up the parts I do have and head back to Casper at Santana Row. The staff start to talk about how the manager isn't there. They mention calling or emailing customer service and they can send the parts. Then, one of the staff takes some initiative and finds a solution to the problem. God Bless her. I went home with the parts and finally set up my bed. Was it worth it? I'm still undecided.
