Excellent! Great fun! Annual event. The polar plunge, on the first of every year. Starts at 12:00 high noon,( sharp). Fun, and thousands of people show up. The highway north of here was blocked, ( mudslide). Many,( a couple thousand showed-up anyway). ( Highway 1). Event is at the beach, follow the crowd, get here early if you want good parking. “Cayucos, Polar Plunge.”

Nice beach in a very small town but Way too crowded in July! The entire town seems to have grown from as-close-as-possible to the beach outward. All the limited parking I could find was filled to overflowing. To be fair, my review is based on driving around trying to dodge moving and parked cars and pedestrians, with a quick siting of the beach as I drove through its small parking lot. Ended up driving back down 1 to Morro Strand Beach where I had better luck—1 space left! :) On a more positive note, during slower seasons, or if you know of a place to park away from the beach and town, there are restaurants and shops very convenient to the beach.

Nice small town feel. Some cool little beach shops and storefronts. Great cookie shop right off the beach.
