My mom has been a patient for years. She had a hospital stay and came home with a bed sore. Her Dr said that Home Health would assess and set up care, but that if they wanted a signed order he would send one. Apparently this is 'standard practice'.
Her therapists for PT/OT/Speech have been in multiple times. They've indicated each time that they've submitted the request to be assessed by a nurse for wound care.
She's now THREE WEEKS out of the hospital with a bed sore. I've called a couple of times and not received any help. Today I was actually routed to their Tacoma office and told that the Puyallup office had forwarded their phones, but they weren't able to do anything to help.
But they could tell me that they have someone scheduled for next week.
So, three weeks without wound care is apparently OK.
