Cigna insurance is awful. Their service was fine for our kid's pediatrician, but when my son had an accident and needed to go to the ER it became a nightmare. 4 small stitches cost us over $3,600$. We went to the ER recommended on Cigna's website. Front desk assured us we were "in network." Without notification the actual doctor who did the 4 stitches was "out of network." Cigna could not negotiate a discount, we were surpise balance billed for a wild cost, essentially double billed by the facility provider and the physician for the same medical procedure. It took Cigna over 4 months to even start the process of trying to negotiate with the providers. And when they weren't successful they just threw up their hands and said, "Sorry! We tried." I strongly recommend using a different insurance carrier if you can. It was over 20 hour long calls to phone trees in India many hours of work for even minimal customer service.
