I'm sure they try, within limits, but if you're not actively suicidal you may feel essentially rushed off the phone. Frankly, I am glad if they are helping those in more serious crisis, but if your crisis is more so complete desperation and your life unraveling, ultimatley leading to or caused by isolation, trauma and devastation that you do not know how to deal with, and lack resources to deal with, and say-- potentially thoughts of suicide you choose not to act on, knowing all things are temporary, then if you are like me you will feel rushed off the phone and potentially worse than when you initially called. Upon confirming I was not planning to harm myself, every call I have had with this service over the course of a few years, has been utterly useless or lead me to feel worse. I dont feel like it is worthwhile to lie and say i am suicidal, the ER wont check you in if you are not at risk to yourself or others (for psych). Sometimes people lack support of family and friends. Unusual situations dont receive much attention, often end with the most tragic results, which is why i have seen the importance sjn giving all i can where I can. This is a major generaliztaion but community resources suck
