If you are pregnant.. go to Terri 🥰 She will make everything looks easy and you will feel taken care of.
If you are pregnant and living in Thurston County, stop working with your OBGYN this instant and start working with Community Birth Center instead! I received my prenatal care from MultiCare Capitol Women's Center for the first 4 months of my pregnancy and was incredibly disappointed with the level of care that I received from my doctor and the staff. My appointments never started on time, my visits were hurried, multiple mistakes were made with my lab work, my pronoun preferences were ignored, and no one seemed to care about my ideal birth experience. This is an experience that many expectant mothers have echoed. Considering that birth is one of the most terrifying, life-changing, and beautiful experiences that an individual can have, you deserve to work with people that treat your experience as such! My doula recommended that I hire Terri and Andie for midwifery care, and I am eternally grateful that she did. My prenatal appointments with Terri and Andie often lasted 1-2 hours, where they thoroughly answered every question that my partner and I had, provided recommendations for additional services and birth plan options, and simply got to know me. By the time that my contractions started, I felt well informed about what to expect, and I had full confidence that my support team would respect my birth plan. I was in labor for 15 hours without pain-reducing medication, and I wouldn't change a thing. I felt supported, encouraged, and loved in what was the most vulnerable experience of my life. Even when my baby came out with their umbilical cord wrapped around their neck 3 times, Andie and Terri attended to the situation swiftly and calmly. They provided post-natal care for me and my baby in the following weeks, and even did home visits for the first few! Even now, I know that they will answer me quickly if I have questions. Lastly, the birth center itself is a wonderful space. You get a large room to yourself, equipped with a king sized bed, a birthing tub, comforting amenities, a personal bathroom, and so much more! Put yourself and your birth experience first, and have your baby at Community Birth Center. <3
