This place could be a perfect Portlandia skit. "Specializing in affordability and friendly service?" Yeah right. You have to pay a monthly service to fix your bike here. At $15 a month they offer you next to nothing to help you, and for $55 a month you could afford a gym membership at a nice gym instead. Staff was disorganized and inhospitable. The first person to help me rounded off the bolts on my seat post and broke it, the next guy dropped 3 seat posts into my bike frame and had to fish them out and tried to sell me the wrong sized post for $15. The person that seemed like the main bike tech told me to "start with a better bike" which completely contradicts their mission statement and reasons for selling used parts. The last lady I spoke with was grumpy and inhospitable towards me and countless other guests. They passed problems off like it was a game of hot potato. Basically, if you don't have a bike that impresses them, they won't be interested in helping you. I walked in with a functioning bike and walked out with a broken seat post bolt, rounded off bolts on my seat post clamp and the wrong seat post. Classist garbage joint. Non profit? They're making a killing pulling the wool over your eyes.

Fantastic local bike shop, new and used. Repair, new, and used quality parts, friendly people, and a good business to donate to,but if you want to donate a bike, there is a charge. Kids workshops and summer classes. Multiple locations. They sponsor great fundraising events all year.

I don't live in town, I took my old, precious Shogun bike to be serviced in Portland cuz there are better mechanics there and it's cheaper, even though I knew it would be a month at least before I could pick it up again and I'd miss out on half a summer of cycling. I asked for a big job, full inspection and rebuild, work on the gear shifter, which has always been incredibly clunky and half the gears dont seem to work, break alignment, and the most obvious issue, which is that something, probably the rims, was causing my front tire to warp. Definitely needed a new tire, if not a new wheel entirely. Picked it up a month and a half later, they charged me $140 I think, i was surprised, but it was really dumb of me to think they did everything I asked for $140. I really should have asked more questions, but I loaded up my bike and drove home. Immediately realized upon getting home that the back tire was warped, and upon riding it realized that nothing had been done to the gears. I suppose they charged me a fair price for the work they did do, I guess? Front tire replaced, brakes aligned is all I can really figure that they did. Maybe they trued the front wheel? Well of course the back tire popped after 2 rides and now I'm probably gonna have to replace the wheels, get the gear shifter looked at and loose a lot more summer time with my bike. I wish that the bike mechanic had listened to what I was asking for? Maybe written it down? Read it back to me? I was prepared to spend $400-500 to get this bike in to working order, they sure lost a lot of business on a bike they agreed to hold for a long time. I feel pretty sad about having to take it right back to the shop after having it gone for so long.
