"Your menu is too large, cut it in half and do that well" would be the first words out of Robert Irvine's mouth if he ever came here for his TV show about failing restaurants.
This food was shockingly awful. I like local diners but that's because the food is usually good; the food here was disgusting. I can't believe a place like this could screw up a cheeseburger and fries and a breakfast platter so badly.
My bacon cheeseburger came with: overcooked bacon, an overcooked and unseasoned burger patty, a stale bun (STALE), a slice of cheese and some cruddy tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. I wasn't expecting fancy, but it tasted like a burger from a school cafeteria. The fries were decent.
My mom's breakfast platter came with: charcoal briquettes formerly known as "bacon", crusty hash browns that tasted like they'd been cooked this morning, warmed "toast" with butter spray, and three over-easy eggs. We were both shocked that something as standard as a breakfast platter could be done so badly.
We are not wealthy foodies, we've lived in North County for nearly 30 years now. I had good memories of eating here from a long time ago; I knew things had changed, but I never expected this. Everything tasted stale, canned, or frozen. Everything. Our Tabasco bottle not only looked nasty but was listed as expired as of October 2022. Yeah I know "it's Tabasco" but still. Our ketchup bottle was empty.
Customer inertia is the only thing keeping this place open. People still come here only because they're used to coming here. I don't see how anyone can taste what we tasted today and think "I want to come back" because we certainly don't.
