Beautiful park and a rich history. It was the site of Neptune Beach, an amusement park from 1917 to 1939. The military houses and trained people there during WWII. Stop by and look at the memorial at the flag pole in the center of the field. There is also a series of info polls where you can learn about the history of the area.

We were Monday Memorial Day, it was packed there was no room, it was 90 degrees so we went to The Park and was packed to, I guess people were trying to get away from the Heat. But had a nice visit with the Family. Then we headed to Jack London Square for Dinner.

There is always a lot of goose poop on the grassy lawn and the stagnant pond a ways up the walkway always smells terrible enough we hold our breaths and speed up for that 200meter stretch.. lovely otherwise! Picnic tables, Sandy Beach with shallow and typically relativity calm water. There's also a nice community beach toy chest- bring an item to donate or borrow and return. You'll see lots of kite surfers. There's a place to rent stuff near crown memorial (can walk there along shoreline, but that's where that's at). Not a lot of parking here. There are benches. A paved path runs along the waterfront a very long ways. Cute visitor center, runs kids day camps in sunset, but their bathrooms aren't always open.
