Had dinner this evening. Had not been to a Cracker Barrel in forever. Never have been to the Rockford location before. Was looking forward to dinner. Our service started off good . Ordered two meals . I also ordered a salad for my side, which was an additional cost. Limited dressing options. Had to ask for silverware. 2 sodas tasted flat , waitress (Kayla)never ask if we wanted refills. I had the steak tips with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The presentation was not very appealing. Looked like steak was hastily cut up and just tossed on plate.Meal was lukewarm . The steak was tender but I could only eat a few pieces, for the taste of seasonings was drenched on the meat. The mash potatoes had a hard texture. The only good part was the brown gravy. My husbands was a country chicken dinner. His was also lukewarm . He even questioned if the chicken was completely cooked. He also hardly ate his meal. The biscuits were good but again not very warm. The waitress did not check on us to see if everything was alright throughout our meal. When we were done , waitress again didn’t ask if we needed anything else. She quickly gave the bill. It was not extremely busy so that was not an excuse for all these problems. I do not like complaining, but this meal was a true DISAPPOINTMENT. My husband proceeded to state he will not be returning. Wanted some compensation for our meals. When told the cashier that we were not happy with our meals, coupons was offered. We did not except them for return visit is doubtful. Definitely not a place to suggest to family and friends.
