Please see my other Google reviews, it's very rare of me to leave a bad review on a location. This is a warning to all who wish to use the venue for their wedding.
My sister got married here on 7.30.2022; I helped her decorate the venue for her and this included speaking second hand to the property management/owners.
Unchangeable Downsides: • Path leading down to the barn on the venue is a very steep hill. (There are plans to re-grade the hill but no date set). Cars must get a "running" start up the hill or you will spin your tires in the gravel and not make it up the hill • Parking is split between above the hill and below the hill, with no man-made path to avoid the cars coming up or down the hill. The hill is too steep for elderly or disabled guests to walk down. You must instruct elderly or disabled people to park near the barn down the hill and keep the others parked above the hill. • Creek near altar/pews has the possibility to flood in the winter/spring months based on how much rain or snow the area has gotten
Bad: • No dish washer. The venue provides cutlery/plates/cups to use but if you use them they must all be hand washed in the sink. •Property Management will be rude to you on the day of the wedding. Our experience: We had no issues with contacting the owners during the time before the wedding about getting things fixed (ie lightbulbs went out, stairs leading to creek were rickety and were marked off for safety of guests). But once the day of the wedding happened, we lost water to the entire building. Our caterer could not wash her own hands while preparing food. She had to take her dirty dishes home with her. Toilets only flushed a few times per hour, leaving the smell of raw sewage coming from the bathrooms. We repeatedly contacted the owner during our reception to have these problems addressed or fixed. Eric begrudgingly came and "fixed" the toilet and told us we had to wait for the water to come back on. The toilet never filled with water the rest of the night. He stopped answering our calls after he "fixed" the toilets. Eric only reappeared at 10:00 to threaten us to turn down the music as it was bothering his family who lives near the venue. We told him that we would turn the music down but wanted to play one last song for the couple to dance to. Our music ended at 10:05. Eric stormed down and told us that because we had not ended the music at 10pm like he asked that we were going to lose our security deposit. If we were to continue to play music, he threatened to cut all power to the venue. No where in the contract does it state that music must be off at 10pm, only that it be turned down which we had the music at half volume (see attached photo). There is no mention in the contract that you will lose your deposit for not turning off the music. On the Sunday after the wedding, water was still not running so we were unable to clean dishes or mop the venue, resulting in us not getting our cleaning deposit back. There is no excuse for this kind of hostile and threatening treatment when someone has trusted you to take care of them on their wedding night. A simple apology would have sufficed from the owners about the water issue and that that there was no way in their power they could have it fixed for us before the wedding ended.
I give this venue 2 stars because of the unacceptable treatment from the property owners on the day of the wedding and how incredibly inconvenient steep hill that impacts elderly and disabled guests & has the possibility of a car not making it up the hill without speed.
