We have been attending Discovery for a little over a year. It is hard to find childcare these days and waitlists are LONG. My experience with Discovery Childcare has been amazing. My children spend up to (and quite often) 50 hours a week here. They are able to socialize with other children, are on a feeding/nap schedule, they learn many new things and their bottoms are changed (per the handbook req. at least every two hours if not needed sooner).
The center uses an app for updates on meals, diaper changes, what they are learned for the day, pictures, and other communication. I love receiving pictures of my children playing outside, color, dancing or learning to sit up/crawl. The center has cameras, keycode entrance and a fingerprint/code system for check-in/check-out.
While common for children to get sick at daycare or at any type of schooling institute, it is not the fault of the center. I often see them sanitizing, taking out the trash, cleaning, wearing masks, gloves during diaper changes, cleaning toys and doing laundry. Discovery communicates with me if my kids are starting to get sick, and their handbook guidelines are very thorough about illnesses. It is hard in every working field to find and keep staff. We did have to make a change in our attending hours since the infant room hours were reduced but it ended up working out better for us.
They also accept the state subsidy. Discovery does have inexpensive cash prices compared to other facilities that I looked at. Originally they were open earlier and later compared to other centers but I believe it has been reduced to 6am-5pm (you will need to verify).
Working with children, especially other people's children is incredibly hard. Changing bodily fluids all day, is incredibly hard. Entertaining children all day, lesson planning, dealing with angry children, sad children, cooking for many children, all very hard.
