I met Dr. Cindy Zafis at the North Bay Women's Expo (2017) for a complimentary consultation, as she was offered to check allergies for food, seasonal environmental, etc. I started exploring different routes of medicine (chiropractic and acupuncture) for my own health, and had been finding it difficult to find out my food sensitivities. We checked various common food "allergy" sensitivities, and yep, I had several. Some of these foods were ones that I tried to determine with an elimination diet, but there were still some broader nutrients that my body was reacting to; I had no way of determining these allergies by changing my diet and doing a "wait and see" approach, nevermind the fact that my mind and body was going through a state of stress related to the October fires that devastated our county.
Nevertheless, I persisted. I started seeing Dr. Zafis for regular treatment, which essentially retrains your nervous system to not react negatively towards a substance. Trust me, coming from the medical field, it seemed a bit weird and nonsensical, but in these eyes, seeing and feeling is believing.
Almost two months into treatment, we are still working on my digestive system, and there is still a ways to go. (The holiday feasts haven't helped either with maintaining a better diet, I can't say no to homemade rocky-road fudge or shortbread cookies, I'm human.) What I have felt a noticeable improvement, was my allergy asthma. After a brutal case of bronchitis several years ago, my respiratory system was never the same. I always had a cough in the winter seasons, and apprehensive to go outside when it was more than a little brisk out, for fear of an attack and coughing spasms. My GP prescribed a couple inhalers, between steroids and bronchodilators, they seemed to help keep symptoms at bay, but I had to remember to bring them with me, let alone use them. I always joked with people when they asked what I was allergic to when I told them about my allergy asthma, "I'm allergic to the cold."
It turned out that I was right. After checking with Dr. Zafis, and she agreed, along with some outdoor molds, I was sensitive to the cold. We treated for cold, my asthma has significantly improved. The next evening I went to my work's holiday , I would say 75-80% better. I can spend time outside without fear of needing my inhaler or having a severe coughing fit, and for that I am very thankful.
TL;DR: Dr. Zafis has shown compassion in her healing, and although I am still working on digestive sensitivities, she has helped me with significant improvement with my allergy asthma. I recommend if you having difficulties determining what you are allergic to, or want treatment that is painless and resolved in as little as one treatment, have a leap of faith and at the very least have a consultation with her. Although my main health improvement isn't the reason I initially started treatment, it is the one that will keep me singing praises.
