I highly doubt that Dr. Sue Moreni's rating on UW Medicine website are a true reflection of her patient's sentiments. After an appointment with a UW Medicine provider, a patient is RANDOMLY selected to receive a feedback survey BY MAIL. Her high rating could very well be due to sampling bias.
Here's my experience : Dr. Moreni had not prioritized my desire to have a natural childbirth. Despite expressing my wish to go through the birthing process as naturally as possible, she seemed uninterested and unwilling to support me in achieving that goal. To make matters worse, during the last 2-3 appointments, she insisted on performing a membrane sweep without discussing it's potential probability in any of the prior appointments. This sudden decision left me feeling overwhelmed and unsure. Although her support staff answered all my questions about membrane sweep, later, while walking down the corridor to get some water, i overheard them smirking and laughing at my hesitation. Not only this, she never discussed any potentiality of a c section at last minute. This lack of transparency and failure to prepare me beforehand of most common unexpected outcomes left me feeling unheard and betrayed.
I encountered a surgical complication known as seroma, resulting in a deep 2-3 in wide wound. Shockingly, her office refused to take responsibility for the regular dressing and care of this wound. Instead, they instructed me to handle it myself, even though it was their surgical procedure that caused the complication!!! As if this wasn't enough, her office refused to give me any written documentation that i could submit to the state or at my workplace to extend my maternity leave by a few weeks in order to heal well before i started working.
Overall, my experience with this gynecologist has been incredibly disheartening. The lack of transparent communication, disregard for my birthing preferences, negligent handling of a surgical complication and unsupportive behavior has left me feeling let down and frustrated. I strongly advise others to seek out a gynecologist who prioritizes patient care, open communication, and respects their patients' wishes.
