How can I describe Dunham's Sports? One word: Meh. I get a "box store" feel from Dunham's which is to be expected. Clearly the staff is "just reporting to work" and they are generally nice and as helpful as they can be. The firearms area is well stocked but not well staffed nor trained well. Dunham's cooperate policies are atrocious as well. To be honest, the experience gave me one of those feelings I don't get often.
Prices on non-firearm related products vary a lot. Some are clearly 10-20% higher than even some small stores which is counter to the box store buying power theory. Then again there are some great prices on other items. When they clearance boots, clothing that can be a good buying time. Clothing and shoes are generally well stock unless you need a 12W boot. Choices are good on some items but weak on others. Prices are high on hunting clothing but that can be blamed on fades. I will still go back there but I like the smaller stores better. Thanks for letting me checkout the hunting rifle but I think I'll buy from a locally owned small store even if I have to wait.
