Nice place to watch and learn.

Not for beginners unless you're taking a kite lesson from someone with a jetski. Trickier launch and land than many sites. The swell rarely sets up but you sometimes get small smooth rollers. Nice wide stretch of river.

This is a fun spot. The pros are that it is the closest west wind kite spot on the Gorge to my home town of Salem, OR. People are pretty friendly, although I have found people to be more laid back out at Lyle. Great clean wind, nice spot to zip across the gorge and back. One down side is the one-at-a-time launch. People have said it's sketchy- I wouldn't say that. It's just inconvenient. Not difficult. The other downside is limited rigging area. There are just a few patches of grass and a pathway that we all have to rig in. I've never had a problem, but it does get a bit crowded at times. I think the limited launch and landing space leads to the overall atmosphere being a little less relaxed than other places I've been. Usually when I go here, I try to stay out on the water for as long as I can, since landing and re-launching is a hassle. Not a bad place, there are some great kiters out there, and definitely some friendly people. But Not my favorite either.
