I mean it when I say don't bother going to St. Joseph's hospital in Bellingham. They won't do their job and if you're in an emergency they don't really care (most of the nurses do but they're not the ones who will be providing you the help you need) and you have a much higher chance of dying on their bed or waiting room than actually receiving treatment and I really wish that isn't true.
My husband's dad died due to their incompetence ignoring his monitors that screamed out and told us "the monitor just does that", and then tried to get his body out of the hospital as fast as possible to prevent us from getting an autopsy done.
My heart rate skyrocketed while throwing up from the high dose of pain meds they kept pushing that they refused to lower; and the heart monitor was completely ignored.
My heart had stopped 6 different times in one night (which magically disappeared from my portal charts) and I was sent home ignored by the hospital the very next morning because a 3rd surgeon refused to do a procedure I needed; even after 2 other surgeons said I needed it done. And none of this even covers the high level of gaslighting their Drs do.
These are just the very few times their incompetence has screwed my family and myself over. I promise you that the extra 45 minute drive somewhere else would save your life better than they would; and probably faster.
Good staff for the most part and great surgeons. My history spans from being born there, my son born there, a few visits during my life and many visits since I've developed an auto immune disease that was shutting down my organs. I've went through a few surgeries and they've taken care of me every time. I've been helped in many areas of the hospital. I see people talking poorly of this hospital yet almost every gripe has nothing to do with the hospital and most has to do with insurance or just the medical environment that we live in. The cancer center is also great. Palliative care included. Peace everyone.
