First time there. Gorgeous, gorgeous hiking trails marked really well. Visit the education center the volunteers in there are so helpful. We spoke with John. Very very kind man, who gave us a lot of information about the park. We bought some souvenirs too. They have a board there that's magnetic and every Wednesday they go onto the trails and see what things have bloomed and they add it to the board so you know exactly what animals, insects and flowers you may see! We will be back!!
Beautiful and easy to navigate hiking and exercise preserve with beautiful views, lots of wildflowers, birds and other animals, public facilities, and moderate to easy difficulty. This place is truly special and can be reasonably navigated in 2-3 hours!
The parking here can be tricky, so be prepared to walk a bit to the trailhead. We didn’t have much trouble on a Saturday at 11:00 AM. The parking lot is free and restrooms are located at the bottom alongside a welcome center.
The trails are good for beginners. Most of them are covered with trees but there are stretches with no shade so bring sunscreen. You can pick your loop but be prepared to hike at least 2 to 3 miles round trip with a moderate incline. There are lots of beautiful birds, inserts, and reptiles alongside the trail.
Advice for newcomers: Bring sunscreen, be CAREFUL of poison oak, use the restroom before going on the hike, bring water, and remove valuables from your car.
Highly recommended and one of the best hiking trails in the Bay Area!
