freddy is an amazingly generous soul and puts his heart into his el torito! the bakery is top-notch ~ try the corn cakes or pumpkin empanadas! ~ with everything baked right there, daily and fresh. and at sixty cents a pop, why not try a few things??! i also grab papaya and cactus leaves there, and the occasional plantain. nothing's organic, but the love of this place and freddy's dedication to it make me choose local. support this neighbourhood tienda, and let it support you!

This great little Mexican grocery has a bakery with nice pastries and fresh telera rolls for tortas. The elote (fresh corn) pastries are great; rich and not too sweet. Local tortillas, good beer selection, good salsas, cotija cheese, spices and dry goods. Nice Folks run the place.

Why do they open so late? It’s early morning (8am) and I want some fresh pan dulce I google the place for the time and it says they open at 9am ( which in my opinion still late for a early morning pan with coffee, I park by the place only to find a sign on the door that says open at 9:30am. Very inconvenient.
