Equinox in Berkeley has truly become my fitness haven!
Whether you're a fitness enthusiast or just starting, there's something for everyone. The gym boasts clean and up-to-date equipment, showers, and changing rooms elevating the overall experience. The post-workout ritual of unwinding in the steam room adds a luxurious and relaxing touch to my exercise routine.
Without a doubt, Equinox is my preferred choice in Berkeley/East Bay, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, cleanliness, and diverse fitness opportunities.
A huge shout out to Lauryn for her consistently helpful and friendly demeanor, always welcoming everyone with a smile.
If you're in search of an excellent personal trainer, I highly endorse Keith F! His motivating and personable approach ensures a top-notch fitness experience. For a seamless sign-up process and quick responses, I recommend reaching out to Marisol – she was tremendously helpful both during my initial enrollment and whenever I needed to make changes to my membership!
Kind of small, but when barely anyone is paying $300/month for a gym membership then it's justified. They have double of almost all dumbbell weights and go down to 5lbs to 110+(?). I've only gone up to 65 but I know for sure there's an 80. All the weights are also there, organized, unlike the zoo at 24 hour fitness, where the workout is you hunting for the 25s.
There are not that very many machines. Sadly, this is reminiscent of a hotel gym, even at 2 stories tall. Most of the space is just taken up by cardio machines, while another chunk is just warmup space. There are two sections of benches though, each having roughly 5 benches with dumbbells ranging from 25-80 in one area and 5-100+ in another.
Other equipment: only 2 barbell benches, 1 incline, 3 squat racks, chest press machine, shoulder press machine, leg press machine, glue kickback machine, ab and adducter machines, bicep and tricep machines, fly machine, and 2 cable machines besides the usual pulldown cage.
Steam room is kind of cold. Could use a little temperature turn up. I've been in almost all the shower stalls and they have consistent water flow, but there are panes inbetween some showers. Honestly not a huge fan because I don't want to see someone else shower, even if through a frosted glass. Towels are a hit or miss, sometimes kind of rough, sometimes soft.
Decent amount of parking, though it is kind of tight so if you suck at parking then you may have some trouble.
