A very pleasant shoe shopping experience.
I walked in, one of the employees promptly told about the rewards member promotion available in their application, asked what I was looking for, took me over to the appropriate section, reminded me to check the clearance area pointing out where it was, and told me they'd be around if I had questions.
While I was was shopping I heard the same employee assisting another customer just as nicely. Actually when the customer said what they were looking for, the employee told them that they had something similar but maybe the customer should check Brown's Shoe Fit downtown for a better selection, "not because I don't want your business, but because they specialize more in that type of shoe".
I found what I was looking for in the proper size and a couple of somewhat more expensive alternatives and asked the employee about them and was told my original selection was probably the best for me.
Our family probably won't need to buy anymore shoes this year, but when we do, we will go back to this same store. Over the years we have always had good luck with Famous Footwear stores, although once or twice we have also been directed to Brown's who took good care of us also.
