I live in Port Townsend and have had great experiences shopping for unusual specimens at Far Reaches Farm. My only complaint is the short amount of time they are open every week. The website says five days a week, but I called to see if they might be open on Mother's Day (seems like a good idea, right?) and was told they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I happen to have to work all three of those days, which really takes the fun out of Far Reaches Farm. I think a lot of people would appreciate it if they could open on Sundays.

Five stars is too few to describe the over-all quality of Far Reaches. Yes, you will find unique, hard to find, treasures for your garden, but listening to Kelly and Sue describe some obscure plant you need....well.. it's just a haven for us plant geeks. My non-gardening husband and I make the quick trip over from Bothell as often as possible. He usually reads in the car while I meander around the nursery ogling over all the rare and unusual plants until I finally decide what all to purchase. Quality people, plants, and their dogs are sweet too. Far Reaches is a magnificent a gem.

While their selection is extensive, I WOULDN'T BUY ANY PLANTS FROM HERE. While I haven't been at the nursery, which I'm sure looks good, I would not buy a single plant from them ever again. We purchased a sorbus and a roscoe which was infested with root aphids. We tried the best we could to clean up the plants, but the aphids have now spread through the garden. Not only are the plants expensive, but they are infested with hard to kill pests. Rather walk through the garden than add any of their plants to your garden, unless you want an infestation. I would avoid buying anything from this nursery.
