I have used F&B paints in the past and been satisfied. They certainly do a great job marketing it. I recently bought paint for kitchen cabinets and trim and on the recommendation of the sales person chose their Floor Paint. She presented it as the obvious -- essentially the ONLY -- good choice for kitchen cabinets.

As it turns out, this is very thin, very runny water-based paint and something of a nightmare in this situation. I suspected I had a bad, or possibly mislabeled can and called the showroom. The gentleman I spoke with assured me that there was nothing wrong with the product -- that Floor Paint is thin and runny. He implied that while you CAN use it for cabinets, most people choose their Eggshell product for cabinets. When I wondered why his colleague would have recommended Floor Paint, he just said that he didn't know what to tell me. Basically, "tough luck, buddy."

At something like $110/gallon it's not exactly the sort of customer service I would expect.

I think I just remembered why i used to be a Dunn Edwards customer.

Poor customer service. The ladies here are too busy on their cellphones to focus in customer service. Came here during the middle a of project. I specify the color I need it was giving the wrong color. Waste one hour of my day going back and forth.

What can I say? I’ve been wanting to try out Farrow & Ball’s lovingly saturated colors for over a year now. And finally, that day came.

The lovely shorter gal running the floor was amazing (I’d like to say her name was Bryant? I’m terrible w/ names. So sorry!).

Despite the research I had done regarding moody, cozy color schemes for my bedroom, I became a puddling mess of a “DIY-Designer” in trying to find that elusive monochromatic pattern that spoke to me. The real “me”. The cool “me”.

Well… it never said a word to me. Not a damn peep!

Bryant, however, was able to sift through my over-thinking “ummms…” and nervous “hmmms…” with kindness, patience and gentle understanding. The colors displayed on the wall spoke to her like they were BFFs, as she would run from one end of the wall to the other end, to show me why stone pink can go with bright yellow .

I would say, though, her two taller colleagues, did very little to help her despite my large order of cans and lengthy time spent. Not a biggie for me but wanted to make sure that F&B recognized Bryant’s hard work.

Now for the paint! The quality of the paint I took home was like nothing I’ve ever purchased before—my wallet was quick to remind me.

I did a two-tone wall with London Clay on the lower-half and Mouse’s Back on upper-half + ceiling. For the crown molding & baseboards, I took a chance on a muted rose color: Sulking Room Pink. And I requested their glossiest version! With an equally glossy dark grey-green called Treron for smaller accents near my door and closet door.

And OMG. They’re everything I could have hoped for! You just HAVE to make sure to get the appropriate primer that matches their respective undertone (light, mid, dark). I believe this further divides into the type of wall, but don’t quote me on that. Especially for the glossy trims. I tried some of the glossy pink and green on the trim without primer at first and was kind of let down with the colors. But when I tried it with the primer first, and then the paint—whoooo! Game changer 😅. The paint looked like it was laced with decadent cake batter that you can’t really afford.

I’m almost done painting this room but I can’t wait to go back to F&B already for my next project!! Thanks for reading! 🥰
