Flaming Dragon’s owner first tattoo’d me in 1996, he was working in Ponders back then. Then along came Flaming Dragon, it bounced around T-Town a few times and landed on 6th Avenue. When I see claims of some shop or tattooist being this, that or whatever… I wonder what their reference point is. Scott started tattooing me 28 years ago and he had been tattooing at least 7 years before that so he has most likely been at this for 35+ years as a conservative estimate, I’d guess it more likely 40 years. Me? I got my first tattoo when I was 17 in 1972 at Ricky Tattoo in Alameda CA, then Tiger Jimmy's in San Diego CA, Honolulu, Pinky’s in Hong Kong, Long Beach Tattoo Parlor on the Pike in Long Beach CA & then I found this character Scott Schafer in Tacoma. I made 4 cruises in the Navy and have seen tattoos from San Diego to Australia and all points in between (most of them). I have seen many styles in many countries and for me, Scott Schafer is the best artist & tattooist. And while there are other tattooists that are primo… for me- to my eye, his art and abilities are what make his work the sweetest that I ever encountered, period. And that’s not taking away from anyone else. I have been wanting to post on Flaming Dragon’s website for years just never got around to it, but after reading some reviews online about other shops I wondered to myself “What is their reference point?”.

Excellent, skilled artists work here while also being pleasant to talk with during sessions. The latest in sanitation practices as well as post-session maintenance for best possible healed work. I have no complaints. Perhaps cheaper tattoo work could be had elsewhere. But for the artwork I want for the rest of my life, I will be going with Flaming Dragon. My artist has been Scott in the recent past, and he was, and no doubt, will be a fantastic choice. Stellar line work, shading, and experience in applying these techniques and more to each piece he works on.
