At a sporting goods store with an emphasis on shoes, it makes sense for sales professionals to know what sport(s) various shoes are designed for, and to know whether they carry any shoes for a particular popular sport. I went in on two separate occasions and the sales professionals did not have this basic knowledge of their stock.

They get trained on the register and some product knowledge. But the all need to be trained on how to conduct a phone conversation with a customer and not a friend or random person. Customer service is not for everyone . Maybe this job isn't for you if having a attitude for no reason with a customer that is asking simple question. Train better.
