I cannot recommend Foothills Midwifery enough. Terah and her entire team are so incredibly passionate, supportive, and knowledgeable. I’ve been living in the Buckley area for about three years and knew as soon as I was pregnant with my third that I needed to find a birthing center again. I’m so thankful that I was able to find this place. There are so many positives, so I feel like it would be easier to list them out:
-the atmosphere is so cozy, and like you’re at home. Every time I come here it makes me feel so at ease. The lobby has toys and books for your children to play with. The birthing rooms are absolutely beautiful and equipped with everything you could possibly need (tub, yoga ball, comfy bed, etc.) -the front desk and whoever happens to be out there at the time, they are always so sweet. There have been times my daughter refuses to come to the room during my appointment because she wants to play with the toys. The sweet receptionist has always helped to keep an eye on my little one while she plays, and I appreciate that so much. -it comes equipped with a kitchen for when you do go into labor! So you can keep your cold food cold in their fridge, and there’s an oven so your support partner can warm you up a nice postpartum meal! I thought that was so unique compared to my other birth center experience -they do all their own labs as well as ultrasounds!! This was so convenient and a huge plus for me. The ultrasound technician is so friendly and we had a great experience the two times we saw him! -they have a lot of vitamins and tinctures readily available for purchase! They don’t upcharge them to make a profit either- they are all sold at regular price! -every midwife, and I mean every one, was such a joy to be around. I didn’t even mind if I had appointments with ones I had met before or new ones. You can tell that everyone here clearly loves their job, and what they do. And that really makes such a difference. Special shoutout to Hannah, as she was the one who was there when I gave birth. Hannah went above and beyond any of my expectations. And when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore, she helped to keep me going. The methods she tried, as well as just her words of encouragement, were a beacon of light while I worked through contractions and labor pain. She was a Godsend and I’m truly grateful for her. -they offer to take weekly photos of you during your pregnancy, if able to at the time. They also took some photos during my labor, and that was amazing and so appreciated! You have the option of buying them. Terah also took beautiful newborn photos at our first in person visit! I’ve never heard of a birth center doing this, and it goes right back into how you can tell Terah and the midwives just love what they do! -they are currently expanding into the building next door so there will be another birth center building! How neat is that! -it’s so easy to schedule or reschedule appointments as they use an online system, as well as for keeping in contact with any general questions you have or sending you results back for labs, etc!
Even though I believe my last pregnancy will in fact be my last, without hesitation if I get pregnant again, I will be coming back to the Foothills Midwifery. They truly treat you like family, and they honor and respect and even encourage you to make your own choices and decisions. To listen to your self and your body. And for me, that is the difference between having a hospital birth, and a birth center.
