This place has issues keeping attendants doing thier job. I was at this location about an hour ago. No self checkout attendant and just my luck no printer paper. I'm not going to spend my time tracking down a employee to then go find another one to do thier job. I politely told the security guard on my way out what was going on. The Fing idiot actually told me he wouldn't let me leave the store next time but this time I'm lucky. I laughed and explained that I'm not spending 20 plus minutes to track down an employee to do thier job. Idiot security guard told me that next time I won't be allowed to leave the store without one. I politely told him I am a US Combat veteran you will not treat me as a criminal and best you will not take me as a prisoner. This security guard had red hair, plugs in his ears and honestly didn't look old enough to carry a handgun. I doubt he knows ROE. I go grocery shopping so I'm stocked up for memorial day weekend and got threatened with being taken prisoner by some kid. Good thing I walked away because I doubt fredmeyer wants the PR nightmare that one of thier guards maced a vet on memorial day all because thier employees aren't doing thier jobs. I served 8.5 years US Army, I worked as a prison guard in Indiana roughly a year before going Army. I then worked 2.5 years as private security. You will not treat me as if I'm a criminal and threaten my freedom all because your hired help is slacking. Please hire people that will do thier job. Please make sure your security understands to respect your paying customers. Honestly winco has better prices and they don't threaten my freedom. Your silly sign inside the store that says store policy requires receipt to exit isn't lawful. You have no legal right to require proof of purchase or you can't leave. I pay for stuff it's legally mine, even cops need warrants or probable cause to stop and search. Having customers come in shop and leave with said items isn't probable cuase to search anyone it's part of your business model. Customers come in shop and leave. Stop herrassing your customers... again winco is cheaper and doesn't threaten my freedom simply cause I'm using the business as intended. Your parking lot is often filled with drug addicts herrasing customers for money. Maybe direct your security to deal with all the druggies begging for money. Often your doors are blocked by people begging for money and smelling like urine. My wife was in a wreck back in October in your lot and your oldest looking bald security guard threatened my wife with the police because the wife's car was immobilized by the other driver. My wife told that idiot security guard no worries I already called the cops. Your security guards don't know how to treat your customers. That old balding white bearded glasses wearing security guard lied to my face when I arrived to help my wife. I spoke with the short old balding glasses wearing guard as soon as I arrived because I was curious if the security cameras caught the wreck by chance. The fat, short balding guard lied to my face telling me how him and some other guard offered to help my wife and even tried to push the car into a place... that old lying fat sake of crap is lucky I spoke to him first.. soon as I spoke with my wife I learned the truth. Your guards are hot garbage mostly. I recommend trying a different security company. Mt wife was on the phone with the insurance company is the only reason I didn't speak with her first. You lying security guard got lucky. I spent a few hours there that night and I noticed your security guards seem to treat the dug addicted Pan handlers better than they do your paying customers. So I say again maybe you should look into a different security company... what are the odds you would possibly get a worse one?
The Kroger Fred Meyer chain of grocery/department stores is similar to the growing national corporate footprint such as Target. However, the difference in quality of the items they sell can be seen in things like clothing, housewares, or produce. I'm not going to start a compare and contrast since this is individual preference. The one sticky point for me is the customer service.
I'm not painting everyone with the same brush, but there are many employees that shouldn't be working in retail. As a regular customer, I'm often asking them to fix items that don't ring correctly, but many of the staff are just plain rude. As if I'm asking for something special. Someone needs to give them the word that they need to recognize that their "system" or the people that enter pricing need to take ownership, correct the error. Then on top of it, treat people like they are valued as a customer.
After working in grocery and retail sales for 30-years I know how to keep customers happy and continuing to shop at a business. Today, I get the impression that the management does little training or just doesn't care how their employees treat the customer. This behavior is ridiculous and it's on top of increased cost of goods that we all pay especially at the grocery store. As of today, every time I leave Fred Meyer I think wow the management could care less that I'm spending money at their store.
