I have an amp that needed repair and I contacted Gabriel at Gabriel Guitars. I live 2 hours away and called on a Wednesday to make sure he was open on Thursday. He advised he was going to be open and that I could bring in the amp to drop off.
I drove the 2 hours on Thursday and arrived at his shop at just before 1:02pm (I have the exact time based on phone records from that day). However, the shop was closed with a message that read "Sorry, closed. Have strep throat. Please call if needed"
I proceeded to call the number and no one answered. I left a message and then texted the same number at 1:27pm advising I was still in Spokane and hoped I could drop off the amp. No one replied.
I waited about 2 hours in Spokane doing other things and called again and left another message with no answer. Disappointed, I returned home (2 hour drive) as the day and gas was a waste of money.
I waited until 12pm, noon, on Friday to see if Gabriel would ever call back. He didn't. Finally, at 12pm I called Gabriel Guitars and Gabriel answered. He sounded healthy and had no tells he was sick with strep throat, a remarkable recovery.
I asked him why he didn't call me back. He began to quickly stutter he words with "I... I... ummm... sorry... ummm" like a child that was caught in a lie. I asked him about how he was feeling and he quickly said he was feeling better. Again, I asked why he hadn't tired to contact me, he said he couldn't remember when I called on Wednesday. That is fine, but why didn't he return my calls from Thursday, and again he began to stutter as he couldn't come up with an excuse.
I was done at that moment and advised I would be leaving this review.
People need days off, I get it, but don't make up lies about having "strep throat" per his note for just 12 hours and then NOT call back or try to make right a customer who you knew was driving 2 hours to drop off an amp for repair. I have the record of the messages and calls as Gabriel does as well on his phone.
People get sick, I get it. But the deception, not willing to take ownership (this is the big one), and the lack of initiative to just return a call/text is why I will never use Gabriel in the future and I HIGHLY recommend to look elsewhere. As it might be you who wastes time and money because Gabriel doesn't take responsibility or ownership of his own actions when he gets "sick" or can't think of a good excuse.
