No what I was expecting. This comment not helping 😑.. every body has their own label . I won said that is difficult but I won't said that is easy, the main trail is not on gaviota State Park . The entrance is next to the gaviota State park there is a private road before you entrance to gaviota park, so you don't have to go inside the park , there is a road paved on the right hand that you going to take and the first curve to the right the main trail entrance will be there... is 2 mile round trip .but it took me 3 hrs there ..is so beautiful, the caves are amazing. The first is so easy, you can go to the top , and the big cave you can go to the top but if you are advanced hiker, under the big cave are many caves ,but this one are no easy ..enjoy!! please keep clean ,please 🙏 please don't do it the graffiti you will destroy the nature, learn from other countries that they keep the nature so beautiful, clean and tourist, you won't see graffiti in caves or waterfall in Mexico or South America, como on! guys you leave in USA. Keep and protect your land, don't destroy by writing your name on it..

Amazing short hike with caves carved in sandstone. We hiked to the caves from the bottom parking lot which is next to the state park at the beach. It makes a 2.5 miles out and back.
For free parking don't enter the state park. 100 feet before the entrance take a right and stop by the green gate

I should have read the reviews before starting out!
The Sierra Club has a rating of hikes and this would be classified as "Easy". Its about 2 miles to and fro, with a 600 feet elevation.
But these numbers are deceptive. The killer is the heat - absolutely no shade, and the very steep climb for the second half on a rocky pathway through bushes. While the path is quite clearly marked, there are no signboards.
The reward? Satisfaction of a climb and superb views. Sitting in the wind cave can also be very invigorating. Cool.
