Now that my son is completely healed and we are done with the process I feel comfortable leaving a review. A little background. My son is 18 months old, we had waited this long due to some health issues as a newborn as well as wanting to make sure we made the right decision for our son. With my first child, we had chose to get his Circumcision performed by my OB/GYN. (this was 15 years ago) We decided that this time we would have someone that specializes in the procedure to do our second child. I had done some research on different doctors and chose Gentle Circumcision based on reviews and his history as a physician. I was VERY nervous going into the appointment and the receptionist put me at ease assuring me that everything would go well and I had nothing to worry about. Meeting Dr. Pittman made me feel even more comfortable. He was friendly and knowledgeable as well as sweet talking and playful with our baby. We had went with the “ring” instead of the other options. They took my son back and took me to a room to watch a video on aftercare. Before I knew it, they were out with my son. He didn’t even cry!!! The whole thing took about 20 minutes. On the way home I could tell he was in pain (I would be too) and cried most of the way home. It was more of being uncomfortable and wanting to be held, than extreme pain. We live about 2 hours away so it was a long drive. My regret was not just booking a hotel to stay the for the night or having another person with me to soothe him. For the next few days it was pretty simple. The ring stays on then he goes back in to have it taken off. He cried every diaper change but overall it didn’t really bother him. He was still running around and being his crazy self. I made SURE to be on time with pain medication which definitely helped. We did have a complication after five days, the ring had slipped too far back and his genitals had became red, swollen and painful. I contacted gentle Circumcision and they had me send a photo and got back to me immediately telling me to come in right away to have the ring removed. It was very reassuring knowing that they took my concerns seriously and made time to see him right away. The ONLY issue I had was the removal. I thought that they would numb him to have it removed… I was WRONG. He screamed and screamed and it nearly brought me to tears. It was red and painful already so I couldn’t imagine the pain he was in. Maybe there was a reason why, I’m not sure but it was the only thing that bothered me. It didn’t take long, he was back in mamas arms before I knew it. When I looked it didn’t look right due to swelling but I was assured everything was normal and it would look perfect after it was healed. After about a week his “member” started to finally look normal. He is almost completely healed and it looks great. It’s still sensitive but I think it’s because the head was covered before and now it’s not. Overall, my experience was good with Gentle Circumcision. The doctor was knowledgeable and the nurses were friendly. The results were great and relatively painless considering….. The taking off of the ring was the only part that I wish had been done different. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I recommend people? Absolutely. Thank you Dr.Pittman for helping me and my son. It’s now over and I can finally breathe!
