I brought my car in yesterday to get a copy of the key made for my father-in-law's vehicle. At some point in time they ran into an issue and instead of following company protocol and communicating the issue that they ran into and seeing if I would like them to try to figure it out, they instead chose to work on it without permission. Since then, all hell has broke loose. First they broke my ignition and tried to blame me. They told me they were going to charge me in the additional $200 + to fix their mistake. After I pointed out that their employee was vigorously slamming this new key into the original ignition, trying to force a fit and then going back to using the original key and proceeding to vigorously slam that key into it while spraying random fluid into it to supposedly clean it of an abundance of graphite. After pointing out to them that I would still be on the hook for the entire key replacement which is the only thing I came in for, on top of the fact that they didn't ask permission to work on my vehicle resulted in them offering to fix the ignition and make the copy of the key at the price of just the copy of the key and programming it to my computer. After waiting 2 hours for them to fix the mistake that they caused, they come to me and inform me that they cannot fix an issue with one part of the ignition, claiming that it was a recalled piece. My wife and I looked into it and have been able to find no proof that that piece was ever recalled and supposed to be replaced. They then told me that they were also unable to properly program the key to the car and get a proper cut on the key for it to fit in the first place. Resulting in them having to luckily bite the bullet on the charge for the ignition, seeing how I was no longer getting the copy of the key that I was originally coming for. You would think that my problems stopped there, but you would be mistaken. Bonus points for anyone who knows exactly where this is going. So then I woke up this morning to run some errands and drop my kids off to school and started experiencing issues with the car. On top of the fact that there was now a check engine light on that wasn't on before I brought my vehicle into them. Started noticing issues like my brakes having a difficult time activating and issues accelerating. My wife and I decide to run by AutoZone and hook up our car to their diagnostics machine to see what's going on and lo and behold, they have somehow severed communication between the car and the computer within the car. YAAAAAAAAH! So now I have the great pleasure of having to go back there tomorrow and give them an opportunity to fix the issue. By that, I mean I'm going to more than likely make them pay the dealership to fix the car because they are completely untrustworthy. Added bonus, I didn't realize it until I went to the store that this is the same store that couldn't even cut a regular car key for a Kia. I'm talking a basic car key that has no computer functionality whatsoever. The only reason I didn't even catch on to the fact that this was a different store was because I came into the store from a different entry point and the first time I went there, I wasn't really paying attention because I was under the weather at the time. With everything being said, it is clearly in your best interest to avoid this place at all costs. Their customer service is subpar and the work they do is FUBAR. Save yourself the time, money and energy going to this place and just find someone else that's more reputable. Update. It turns out that this company is full of a bunch of morons. Connecting a diagnostics machine to the computer, reset all of the codes that were misfiring. Ultimately fixing the issue with the computer. Taking it to another shop, they were able to fix the ignition that was improperly installed by this company and now everything is where it should be. If you cherish your vehicle and you don't want to be blamed for something that they did, I would suggest that you avoid this company at all costs and if guardian sees this you should fire Curtis.
